KUCA is an acronym for "Korean and Ukraine Contemporary Art Exhibition". KUCA started in June 2018 with the aim of exchanging culture and arts between Korea and Ukraine and discovering new artists at Kyiv Art Platform AkT, Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

KUCA started KUCA 2018 [Exposure] at AkT, Ukraine's Kiev art platform in June 2018, and held its second exhibition KUCA 2019 [Blind Spot] at the Museum of Eastern and Western Art in Odessa, Ukraine in August 2019.

KUCA 2020 will be held at the Dnipro Art Museum in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine in May 2020, with [I LOOK] as the exhibition theme.

From July 20, 2020, at the Korea Foundation KF Gallery in Seoul, Korea. 'Korea-Ukrainian Contemporary Photo Exhibition' will be held.

It took a while for KUCA committee to come up with the theme for 2020. We’ve decided initially that we want to focus on process of creating illusions and artificial realities, fakes and manipulations on the internet and election campaigns, in media and everyday life.

KUCA's director Dr.Sungtae Jung will visit Ukraine, Kyiv, Chernobyl, Dnipro and Odessa for 21 days to discuss and take pictures with various groups and galleries about KUCA2020.

We do not intend to criticize things and events related to the times of new media technologies and relationship development, but plan to emphasize the versatility of reality and its perception. It all depends on a 'I LOOK', from which one or another artificially created phenomenon is regarded.
